Upgrading Your Legacy Dream to Modern Mode
So you want to know how to convert your legacy dream to the new, modern format? Well with the new Dream Editor it’s easy! This tutorial will show you the way in a couple of steps.
Step 1 - In the Dream Editor, go to the Patches tab and open Dream Settings.
Step 2 - Click on ‘Convert Patches for Modern Mode’ in the bottom righthand corner of the ‘Dream Settings’ window.
Step 3 - Create a new empty folder in your Furcadia patches folder (or wherever you want it to go). This will be your destination for the new converted patch. This will be explained in the next few steps.
- Click browse beside ‘Select your original Legacy Mode patch folder’ and find the original folder that you were using for the dreams patches.
- Then, click the browse button beside ‘Select a new folder for the Modern Mode patches’ and select the new empty folder you created in the previous step.
- Press Upgrade Now
After clicking ‘Upgrade Now!’, the window will give you some sound advice to get you past the next steps of conversion. However this tutorial will illustrate the process further!
If you go straight back into the Dream after upgrading the Patches and it looks like a badly composed labyrinth… DON’T PANIC! You’ve only missed a step and this is easily fixed. See the next step!
- You will need to reselect your patch destination. Click ‘Browse’ and find the previously empty folder you created before. This should now have your newly converted Patches inside it.
- Select ‘Modern Mode’ and then finally press ‘OK’.
**Notice: Under ‘Special Effects’ there’s something called ‘Ambience Mode’. Add ambience to your dream and play with the layer settings here to see what effects you like best!**
Success! You should now be able to toggle Large mode, use Ambience and Lighting and any of the other new, modern mode features that were implemented with the Second Dreaming Part 1 update. The Dream will automatically scale up your Objects when you zoom in, regardless of whether you have made Large versions of your patch file or not. However, a better level of detail can later be achieved by manually upgrading your items, if you so wish! Happy Dreaming!
